02 — Our approach
How we approach an A/C call
We start with the basics (power, thermostat, airflow, drain line), then test the parts that commonly fail. You get a plain explanation of what's wrong and your options before we start any repair.
A/C in Florida works harder
In Tampa Bay the A/C runs most of the year and pulls a lot of moisture out of the air. That means more strain on parts, condensate lines that clog, and ductwork in hot attics that can leak cooled air. Near the coast, salt air can be tough on outdoor units. Regular maintenance and a correctly sized system make a real difference.
Need a plumber too? Ground Up is also a licensed plumbing contractor. See our plumbing services.
My A/C is running but not cooling. What should I check first?
Check that the thermostat is set to cool and below room temperature, replace a dirty filter, and make sure the breakers for the indoor and outdoor units are on. If the outdoor unit is silent or there's ice on the lines, turn the system off and call us.
Why does my A/C leak water inside?
Usually the condensate drain line is clogged. In Florida's humidity your A/C pulls a lot of water out of the air, and algae and sludge can block the line. If the pan overflows or a float switch shuts the system off, we can clear it and check why it clogged.
Should I repair or replace my A/C?
It depends on the age of the system, what failed, and how often it's needed repairs. We'll give you a straight answer on both options and what each involves. Financing is available on replacements, so ask us.
