01 — What we do
What we handle
A thermostat swap looks simple until the wiring or the settings don't match the system.
-
Smart and programmable thermostats
We install the thermostat you choose, or help you pick one that fits your system.
-
C-wire and wiring fixes
Many smart thermostats need a common wire. We add one, or install an adapter when the existing wire bundle falls short.
-
Heat pump configuration
We set up the reversing valve, aux heat, and emergency heat settings so your heat pump runs the way it should.
-
Humidity control
Where the equipment supports it, we set up dehumidify settings to help with Florida humidity.
-
Blank or misbehaving thermostats
We figure out whether the problem is the thermostat, the wiring, or the system itself.
02 — Signs
When a thermostat needs attention
These are the common reasons people call us about thermostats.
- The screen is blank or keeps resetting
- The house temperature doesn't match the setting
- A new smart thermostat won't stay powered or keeps dropping Wi-Fi
- The A/C short-cycles on and off
- Backup heat runs when it shouldn't on a heat pump system
- You want a schedule so you're not cooling an empty house

Getting thermostat settings right in a Florida home
In Tampa Bay, humidity matters as much as temperature. Some thermostats can run the blower slower or use a dehumidify setting to pull more moisture out of the air. Whether that works depends on your equipment, so we check what your system supports before setting it up.
Most Florida homes have heat pumps, and a thermostat set up for a standard A/C with a furnace won't run a heat pump correctly. Wrong settings can flip the reversing valve backwards or call for expensive backup heat when it isn't needed. We configure the thermostat for the system you actually have.
Hurricane season brings power outages, and some thermostats lose their settings or come back in the wrong mode. After an outage, check that your thermostat is set to cool and the schedule is still there. If it won't come back on, call us before assuming the A/C itself is the problem.
03 — Process
How a thermostat install goes
-
Check your system and wiring
We look at the existing thermostat wiring and the equipment it controls.
-
Install and wire
We mount the new thermostat, add a C-wire if needed, and make clean connections.
-
Set it up
We configure the system type, heat pump settings, schedule, and humidity options.
-
Show you how it works
We walk you through the controls, and the app if it's a smart thermostat.

Do I need a C-wire for a smart thermostat?
Many smart thermostats need a C-wire for steady power. Some homes have an unused wire in the bundle we can connect; others need a new wire or an adapter. Without proper power, a smart thermostat may go blank, drop Wi-Fi, or cause the system to short-cycle.
Will any thermostat work with a heat pump?
Most modern thermostats can run a heat pump, but they have to be set up for it. The reversing valve setting, aux heat, and emergency heat all need to be configured correctly. A thermostat set up as if it were running a conventional A/C and furnace can cause heating problems or high power bills.
Can my thermostat help with humidity?
Some can. Thermostats with a dehumidify feature can slow the blower or run the system longer to pull more moisture out of the air, if your equipment supports it. If humidity is a constant problem, an oversized A/C or leaky ducts may be the real cause, and we can look at that too.
