01 — What we do
What a replacement includes
We replace the whole system the right way, not just the box outside.
-
Honest repair-or-replace advice
We look at age, repair history, and condition, and tell you straight whether a repair still makes sense.
-
Sizing by load calculation
We size equipment based on your home's insulation, windows, layout, and sun exposure, not a rule of thumb by square footage.
-
Matched systems
We install an indoor coil or air handler matched to the outdoor unit so the system performs the way it was designed to.
-
Duct and drain check
We inspect the existing ducts, return, and condensate setup and tell you if anything should be fixed during the install.
-
Permits when required
When the job requires a permit, we pull it and schedule the inspection.
-
Startup and walkthrough
We commission the system, show you the thermostat and filter, and walk you through the manufacturer's warranty.
02 — Signs
Signs it's time to replace, not repair
One repair doesn't mean you need a new system, but a pattern usually does.
- Repair calls every season, sometimes more than once
- The system is getting older and the big parts are starting to fail
- Rooms that never cool down, even after repairs
- Indoor humidity stays high and the house feels clammy
- Power bills keep creeping up with no change in how you use the A/C
- A compressor or coil failure on an older system

Sizing an A/C for Florida heat and humidity
In Florida, a bigger A/C isn't a better A/C. An oversized system cools the air quickly and shuts off before it has time to pull moisture out. The result is a house that feels cold and damp at the same time. That's why we size with a load calculation instead of guessing from square footage.
Because systems here run nearly year-round, Florida A/C units can wear out sooner than the same equipment would up north. Many homeowners start planning a replacement once a system is 10–15 years old, especially if the repairs are getting bigger. We'll give you a straight answer about where yours stands.
A new system is also a chance to fix what the old one was fighting. Leaky attic ducts, an undersized return, or a drain line that's always clogging can all hold back new equipment. We look at those when we quote the job so the new system isn't working against the same problems.

How do I know if I should repair or replace my AC?
Look at age, repair history, and how well it's cooling. If the system is older and needs a major part like a compressor, or you're calling for repairs every season, replacement often makes more sense. If it's newer and the problem is a capacitor or drain line, repair it. We'll tell you which way we'd go and why.
What size AC do I need for my house?
It depends on more than square footage. Insulation, windows, ceiling height, shade, and how many people live there all change the answer. We run a load calculation to size the system properly. Too big and it won't control humidity; too small and it runs constantly without keeping up.
Do I need a permit and a licensed contractor to replace my AC in Florida?
In many Florida jurisdictions, replacing an A/C system requires a permit, and the work should be done by a licensed contractor. When the job requires a permit, we pull it and arrange the inspection. Ground Up holds Florida Certified A/C Contractor license CAC1817931.
Do you offer financing on a new AC?
Financing available. Ask us. We'll go over the options when we give you a quote for the new system, so you can compare them alongside the equipment choices before you decide on anything.
