Drain cleaning in Tampa Bay
Ground Up clears clogged drains in Tampa Bay homes: kitchen sinks, showers, tubs, toilets, and main lines. We use drain cables and hydro-jetting, not chemical drain cleaners, and we'll put a camera in the line when a clog keeps coming back. Call or text 727-732-4357 or request a quote.

01 — What we do
Drain work we do
We clear the clog, then figure out why it happened so it doesn't come right back.
-
Kitchen sink clogs
Grease, food scraps, and soap build up in kitchen lines. We clear the line past the trap, not just the part you can reach.
-
Bathroom drains
Hair and soap scum are the usual suspects in showers, tubs, and bathroom sinks. We clean the line and the stopper assembly.
-
Main line clearing
When several fixtures back up at once, the problem is usually the main. We clear it from a cleanout.
-
Snaking
A drain cable cuts through most clogs and often pulls back whatever caused them.
-
Hydro-jetting
High-pressure water scours grease, scale, and roots off the pipe walls. We use it when the pipe is sound enough to handle it.
-
Camera inspection
For repeat clogs, a camera shows whether you're dealing with buildup, roots, or a damaged pipe.
02 — Signs
When a drain clog is more than a clog
One slow sink is a nuisance. These signs point to something deeper in the line.
- More than one drain is slow or backing up at the same time
- Gurgling from the toilet when the sink or tub drains
- Water comes up in the shower when you flush
- The same drain clogs again a few weeks after you cleared it
- Sewage smell from a floor drain or the yard
- The kitchen sink backs up into the other basin

Drain problems common in Tampa Bay homes
Many older Tampa Bay homes still have cast-iron drain lines. Over decades, the inside of cast iron can rust and scale up, leaving a rough surface that catches grease and debris. A line like that clogs more often, and aggressive cleaning can make a weak spot worse, which is why we look before we jet.
Hard water leaves mineral scale in drains too, and it combines with soap and grease into stubborn buildup. Kitchen lines take the worst of it. Running hot water won't clear grease; it cools and hardens farther down the line. Wiping pans before washing them helps more than you'd think.
We skip chemical drain cleaners. They often don't clear the clog fully, they can be rough on older pipes, and they make the job hazardous for whoever opens the line next. A cable or jetter clears the line mechanically and shows us what was in it.
03 — Process
How a drain call goes
-
Find the clog
We ask what's backing up and where, then pick the right access point: a fixture, a cleanout, or the roof vent.
-
Clear the line
We run a cable or hydro-jetter until water flows normally, then test with the fixtures you use most.
-
Look deeper if needed
For repeat or main line clogs, we can run a camera to see the cause and show you the footage.
-
Talk prevention
We tell you what we pulled out and what, if anything, needs repair.

Is hydro-jetting better than snaking a drain?
They do different jobs. Snaking punches through a clog and is the right first step for most drains. Hydro-jetting scrubs the whole pipe wall, which helps with grease, scale, and roots that keep clogging a line. Jetting isn't right for every pipe, since a badly deteriorated line can be damaged, so we often camera it first.
Why shouldn't I use chemical drain cleaner?
Chemical drain cleaners often eat a small channel through a clog without clearing it, so it comes back. They can be harsh on older pipes and fixtures, and if they don't work, the chemical sitting in the drain becomes a hazard for anyone who opens it. A plunger or a hand snake is a safer first try.
Why does my kitchen sink keep clogging?
Usually it's grease and food buildup farther down the line, past where a plunger or small snake reaches. Heavy disposal use, hard water scale, and older cast-iron pipe can all add to it. If it clogs every few weeks, we'll clear the full line and may recommend a camera look to see what's going on.
What does it mean when multiple drains back up at once?
When toilets, tubs, and sinks back up together, the blockage is usually in the main line, not one fixture. Stop running water and avoid flushing until it's cleared. It could be a clog, roots, or a damaged section of sewer pipe, and a camera inspection will tell us which.
